“ Stopped in for lunch on Sunday around 1:30. The line was not too long and moved quickly, right in front of the batter machine. A sign indicates that all the food is fried in the same oil (canola), so someone with an allergy to shellfish, for example, should probably not have anything fried. This was our first time but I hope it's not our last. I asked a man in line about the size of the meals and he recommended the combo platter with 4 pieces of perch and one large piece of walleye. I decided to order one to split with my husband as neither of us are big eaters. This was good to get so we could sample both fish. I liked the perch better, and he preferred the walleye. I found the walleye to be a little fishier than the sweet perch. We got a huge amount of waffle fries along with the fish, plus coleslaw, tartar sauce, and a roll. We also ordered hush puppies and onion rings. Plenty for the both of us even though it was a single platter plus the extras. I was gun-shy about the coleslaw having read some earlier reviews, but we liked it very much, and found it cold and not too much mayo. It also had a subtle kick. Both the onion rings and hush puppies were delicious. That combined with fast service made for a 5 star meal. The tables seem to turn over in concert with the orders going in, so we were able to find a table immediately after placing our order. I hate it when you have to stand around and wait for a table to free up. On our way out, I chatted with a woman who was also leaving and she said she'd had a hamburger. A HAMBURGER? She said she does not like seafood and the restaurant had just started to serve burgers. Not on the menu so far. We arrived in our 23' motorhome and were fortunate to find a handicap parking spot we could fit into, and for which we have a permit. Generally speaking, the parking lot is not RV friendly but there were tons of spaces at the restaurant directly next door, Frisch's Big Boy. In fact that lot was nearly empty. Sorry no photos as we were too busy enjoying our feast. ”

“ Solid cheat day eats! I was working in the area and Yelped local spots. Highly rated so I had to try it out. The line was packed to the door which is a good sign. Menu above your head and listening to the chatter from the locals, I decided to go with the Perch and Walleye combo dinner with Onion rings, mushrooms and a Great Lakes lager. I picked a seat outside since the weather was perfect! Sipping on my beer and listening to the sound of Lake Erie, pretty awesome not gonna lie. My order didn't take long to come out. The portions are generous practically cover the tray. First bite was the walleye. Perfectly coated and cooked, mild flavor and meaty. I really liked their tartar sauce! I preferred the Perch just because it was just lighter. I watched the mushrooms being battered while I was in line so I knew they were going to be the real deal. Huge caps, juicy and meaty. Onion rings the same. I think everything coated in the same cornmeal and FRIED, hence cheat day lol. $32 for everything and add in the outside lake ambiance, I picked a winner. I haven't had a lot of fried food in the last 2 months so I'm praying the 2 hour drive back to Columbus is uneventful lol. Definitely check out the Jolly Roger. You will not be disappointed. ”

“ According to a stranger on the ferry, this place is an iconic Lake Erie seafood institution. It was quite fresh and we enjoyed watching the staff batter it through the viewing window. It got a little busy when we arrived, but we didn't have to wait long. If I'm being honest, the perch was a little bland, but nothing that a little tartar sauce couldn't fix. Coleslaw was solid and fries tasted great. My "adventurous" four year old opted for a hot dog fish, and he gave it two thumbs up. It is counter service. They give you a number and then bring you your order. There weren't a lot of tables to pick from that overlooked the lovely waterfront, but that was okay. We walked outside after we finished eating. It was way too hot to sit out there to eat, but on a cooler day that might be fun too! ”

“ My wife and I wanted to stop in once more before we left the area. Must say that it was just as good, perhaps better, than the last time. There certainly was a lot more people as we visited at approximately 1:15 in the afternoon! My wife decided on their Caesar salad with chicken strips while I wanted their perch dinner and side of fried oysters although I really did not need the fried oysters. They were delicious! The perch dinner was huge and extremely delectable! We wanted onion rings to share instead of the french fries. The onion rings are coated with the same white cornmeal batter as the fish and the scallops. For some reason, the chicken strips in my wife's Caesar salad did not seem to have the same batter. An absolutely terrific lunch! It seems to be extremely popular spot to be! ”
